About ActuaryDeck

A formula reference and question bank for the Society of Actuaries' first two exams, Exam P on probability and Exam FM on financial mathematics, written for candidates who already have a study manual and want somewhere quick to look a formula up and drill it.

What is here

58 formula pages, covering 14 probability distributions alongside the annuity, loan and bond material, and a bank of 400 practice questions. The formula pages and guides need no account. Premium adds the full question bank, the timed and per-topic drills and the complete recall deck; free visitors get a daily mixed round and a set of fully solved samples.

Where the numbers come from

The content is the site's own. The syllabus pages it points to belong to the Society of Actuaries and are linked rather than copied. Each distribution is defined once, as rendered formula and as a working function, and 330 of the 400 questions carry code that recomputes their numeric answer from those functions.

One test, src/data/questions/verify-answers.test.ts, runs under npm test: it recomputes every published mean, variance and MGF numerically, re-derives each worked example and each computed answer, and expects zero mismatches.

Who runs it

ActuaryDeck comes from one independent developer working alone, not from a firm, a seminar provider or anyone acting for the Society of Actuaries. The same developer runs other single-subject reference sites, including CalcRef, StatRise, Discretica and Trigonify; nothing any of them has earned carries over here.

Nothing here carries an individual byline: formula pages and guides appear under the ActuaryDeck name, and the markup on each one credits the ActuaryDeck organization as author. No actuarial credential is claimed.

What it is not

ActuaryDeck is a supplement, not a replacement. Keep your ADAPT subscription for the home stretch - use this to drill formulas and problem patterns for a fraction of the price.

It is not a qualification, it does not replace the official syllabus, and a good run of drills here is no guarantee of a pass. There is no adaptive difficulty engine and no readiness score, because doing either honestly takes candidate response data at a scale this site does not have; see the guide on what those ratings actually measure.
